List of things we are going to need in the earl weeks and months.

Image
I will continually update this list. We have been inundated with people asking what we are going to need and I don't really know how to keep track of who I have said what to, so I've decided the easiest way is to put things on here and I can edit it as we go along. We actually have the majority of what we need already, partly because we had it from Jack, and partly because so many people have very kindly handed down their baby clothes, high chairs, cots, bedding, etc. The list goes on and we can't thank everybody enough, it's been really quite overwhealming. I don't want to make a shopping list on amazon because so much can be bought second hand and in bundles on Facebook, vinted, etc. We try to buy most things second hand, and we pass things on as we have had so much passed on to us. We are so lucky to have so many friends and family who have had babies and are happy to pass on to the next baby, and we will continue when the babies have outgrown their stuff. Babies...

8. Weeks 18/19

Image
Not much to report really. We had our 18 week scan with foetal medicine and everything was perfect. All three are within 5mm of each other, and looking fabulous. They made it very clear to us that they are all boys. Haha! So James and I can now fully decide on names. Its nice to know that we don't need to start looking for anything baby girl in style or colour. Bring on the boys clothes organising! We have had our scan on the same morning every other week as another triplet mum, so we have been asked to come in the following Tuesday and have our appointments every two weeks from then, to take the pressure off the sonographers and doctors. Each scan takes 40+ minutes, and they are looking so closely at everything, so I can see how it would get a bit much having 2 in a row.   However, when we turned up to our 20 week scan at 19 weeks, the sonographer (the lady we saw at 12 and 16 weeks), couldn't understand the reason for the swap.  At 19 weeks it was the anatomy scan, so n...

7. 17 weeks.

Hair brained There are few things to shout about during pregnancy, but one of the absolute best things is fabulous hair. My understanding is that the normal amount of hair we loose every day, simply doesn't fall out, but we continue to grow hair at the usual rate. This makes the mums to be hair look lush and healthy. My favourite part is not needing to wash it. I have tried for years to train my hair to wash it weekly, but only ever managed to reach twice a week. I've suddenly got to a week and it still looks great! Because of this, my lovely friend is going to give it a cut so I can make the most of it, and hopefully look a little better than I feel. After birth, the breastfeeding sweats will mean regular washes, and a few months after the babies are born, all of the excess hair will then start to fall out and it will feel limp and rubbish again. So for now, hair swishing will commence.   Memory and words A nice little segway from "hair brained" is the fact that I...

6. Facebook blog share response.

Image
I've been speechless and completely overwhelmed with the incredible response we have had since I shared my blog on Facebook. I expected a small handful of people to be interested and possibly get a couple of comments, but my first page went from 23 views to nearly 400 overnight. It's over 500 now and I just can't believe it!  We have been inundated with messages of support from people far and wide and the local support is just amazing. I went for a brew with a close friend yesterday, and she even offered to come and clean our toilets when the babies are here! Haha!! I've told her we would accept the help with laundry, food and Jack, but I might have to draw the line at toilet cleaning. But hey, let's see how desperate things get! We really will need to allocate jobs for people. The next visitor through the door can chop some veg for us and do some washing up, the one after can hang out the laundry. I'm assuming jobs will be bottom of my list and pretty low on Ja...

5. Things have changed.

We had our 16 week scan this morning, and it took 3 hours and 20 minutes!!! We were sent all over the place, I will explain.  We started out at the usual ultrasound department and had a similar scan to our 12 week scan. They ran the doppler over and showed us the 3 heartbeats, which was a relief in itself. I have felt a little bit of movement this last week, but very little over the last couple of days. One is definitely more active than the others from what I can feel. I have an acrobat on my left side!  The sonographer measured their length, the circumference of the head, the circumference of the belly, the length of the femur (thigh bone) and the volume of liquid in each sack. She showed us their bladders, (one of which emptied while we were watching), the blood flow through each cord and their kidneys. The full bladder shows that they are all swallowing as they should. So, all looking good! We did ask if she could see the sex but she said she might struggle at this stage....

4. Starting to jiggle and figure out the juggle.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and just starting to feel little movements in my belly. My left side is strongest, the one in the middle has made itself present a couple of times and the one on my right I only felt for the first time today. My belly goes from just a bit bigger in the morning, to looking 5/6 months pregnant by the evenings. I'm feeling SO much better, just in this last week really as I had a horrible cold last week. Its a welcome relief to be feeling a bit more energised and enjoying food again. I was starting to think I would feel horrendous for the whole pregnancy! Just as I could feel the nausea lifting, we were all hit by a horrible cold. Jack wasn't phased, James was really rough for a couple of days with a lingering cough and sore throat, but I had the full force for 2 weeks with a cough that made me sick and started nose bleeds. I also felt like I was pulling stomach muscles with the coughing. The little wrigglers really did take all my goodness during those tw...
