I have become a dab hand at picking stuff up off the floor with my toes. I keep really annoying myself by dropping stupid things, then needing to bend down to pick it up. Unnecessary energy! In the mornings I'm pretty much fine, but by evening, everything is much harder work and I tend to get down on the floor to pick stuff up or tidy Jack's toys, rather than simply bending down to do it. I then crawl to the sofa for support to get back up. But one off things, if I don't have socks on are no problem! James had always called my toes "finger toes", and they are finally coming into their own! I've also started seeking out parking spaces with nothing parked next to me. Usually at the far end of the car park. I could use child and parent parking spaces, but I get so mad when I see people take the last space and not get out with a kid that I can't do it. Yet! On a quiet day I will, but with Christmas, everywhere has been really busy so I have opted for a longer ...

12. Bizarre Facts.

Image
Half siblings James has been speaking to a friend who is an identical twin and she told him a little biological fact about identical siblings. It took me a little while to figure out what it meant, but it does make really strange sense. If identical siblings grow up to have their own kids, these cousins will biologically be half siblings.  WHAT????  Because they are genetically identical, their genes will carry down to their child, in the same way their cousins parents genes will have passed down to them. Technically, the same genes.  Make sense now?  It gets crazier! If, for some reason these identical brothers happen to meet identical sisters and have kids together, these cousins would then biologically be full siblings.  If its still not making sense, which, really, it kinda doesn't. Go back to the egg split. One little egg would have turned into one person, but split in two to make two identical people. They carry those genes from that tiny little cluster of...

11. 21 week scan

Image
I had an eventful night last night. Got into bed later than normal because of a TV show we were watching. Knowing I'm not working today helped with the decision making.  I go to bed with a hot water bottle every night to warm the bed and ease my aches and pains. It goes nowhere near my tummy! Anyway, last night, it leaked. Uuuuurgh.  When I finally got into bed and to sleep, I was woken up with a flippin nose bleed! I've not had one for a long time thankfully. I was half asleep with a tickly runny nose, so when I finally realised what was going on, it was like a Halloween massacre. My hands and face were covered! Yuk! The scan Our last measurement scan was 3 weeks ago. So I was keen to see how they were all progressing. It's always a bit nerve wracking as we fully expect that one isn't doing as well as the others each time. I hadn't felt baby C move yesterday but he had a little jump around this morning so wasn't too nervous. James actually felt baby B kick yest...

10. A privilege

Image
I was at work today and was eating my lunch at 10am. As you do! I told the guy I was working with that whenever I eat, all three of them wake up. He asked how much I can feel them and I explained where they are lying. He said to me "what an experience!" And it really it! It's incredible. Pregnancy is amazing and mind blowing anyway, but to be the person to carry three little babies in my tummy at one time, really is an incredibly special experience. And to watch them grow together with a lifelong bond that so few people have, is going to be such a privilege. All of the pain, hard times and difficulties, of which we will have many, are going to be so worth it. They already are when I feel them moving around. Just reminding me that they are there.

9. Stretch and burn.

Image
This last week has really hit me physically. I have been doing too much so its my fault, but its really hit home that I need to know my limits now. Wallpapering a bathroom is not ideal when I should be having a sit down. Lesson learned when I was in a huge amount of pain around my ribs and middle back. I apparently did NOT learn my lesson though, because I did the exact same thing the following day! Then the following day I stayed upright, baking, and again, agony!  I remember the feeling with Jack, my ribs are expanding and it feels like if you put your hands on your hips, but up around your ribs, and push inwards for a minute, then let them go. That pressure of being squeezed, but from the inside out. And it's relentless when it starts. It's very difficult to find a comfortable position to sit or lie down, especially as its advised to not sleep on your back. I keep sucking lungfulls of air in and holding my ribs open to try and relieve the pressure a bit. The only real cure i...
