67. Learning fast, winter bugs and finding life a bit of a struggle.

Image
I started this post months ago, so it will jump about a bit.  Learning fast.   William is very much an observer. Like Jack is. He watches and assesses everything with a very judging look on his cute little face. He is jabbering away a lot more than the other two, and repeats words, but seems to prefer to have a full conversation with you in his own language. He has been the first one to copy dance moves too! He is getting quite good at animal sounds now, they all are, but roaring is the favoured animal noise. Who knew a cow could roar!? Sam roars with passion, he puts his whole body into it. When I ask him what noise a tiger makes, he goes into his roar. Then I ask him what noise a sheep makes, and he roars the word baaaaa. That's once scary sheep!  Rob picked up the word sock a while ago, but pronounces it "llllllllllllllllllock". He now calls everything related to foot, a lllllllllllllllock. Will calls everything a shoe, or siiiiiiioooooooooo. They pick up news words ev...

66. Sams appointment, playful boys and bouncing back.

Image
Doctors appointment . First of all, a quick update with Sam and his hospital appointment. It was as we had expected. RAS seizures, which is something they hope he will grow out of. I've written a diary of his seizures to try and pick up on any patterns. Other than getting really upset about seemingly anything, and them being more frequent during the time he was under the weather, there hasn't been anything obvious.  He will be seen again in 6 months to see how the pattern is going, hopefully decreasing by then. He will also have a blood test to check his iron levels, as that can be a potential trigger. The doc we saw didn't want to do it as he was concerned it would trigger a seizure..... OK, it will, but it will whenever you do it. Anyway, waiting for the appointment for that, which I am thoroughly looking forward to!  He had a lot of seizures in the run up to his appointment, then had a full 2 week gap. I knew I shouldn't have been relaxing, but I must've been, b...

65. Developments, character, holidays, bugs and laughs

Image
Skills. Will is really trying with his words now. Daddy, cat, Maggie (the cat), Jack, hiya, bye, and tractor are regulars, alongside lots of mama, baba, dada, and copying noises we make. The other two say dada, mama, cat and Jack, and some noises. Will is a clear leader with words at the moment.  All 3 boys have mastered clapping and waving. They even clap when there is a round of applause on TV which always makes me smile. William has always been the strongest climber, and still is. He can walk, but prefers to crawl. For a long time now, he would throw toys and bottles onto the sofa, then climb up and chill with his prize. He also claps and laughs when you look at him in a surprised way when he has climbed up. Climbing at speed and with skill. Robin is the strongest walker, but the weakest climber. He has cracked it finally, but he would give a couple of feeble attempts, then give up and cry. Will kept at it until he got onto the sofa or windowsill.  Sam amazed us the other d...

64. Seizure

Image
It was terrifying, to put it mildly.  After every meal time, I put the boys into their play pen for a few minutes while I clean up the floor and their high chairs. If I don't, there is foor everywhere in seconds as they crawl through it. They know the routine and that they will be out again soon.  Our kitchen is open plan with the living room off it. I can hear them all, but can't always see them when I'm cleaning up. I know they are safe in there as it's on the carpet, so even if they fall backwards, it's not a hard splat. I constantly bob my head in for a quick look to check them, and if there is a yell, I run in to see whats going on. It's usually because someone has pinched someone else's toy, someone has been smacked, or is being crawled over and squashed. It's a massive pen, but they all seem to congregate in the same square meter.  I was cleaning up their chairs when I heard a yell, so went running. Rob and Will were sitting playing, but Sam was f...

63. Walkers, talkers, plastic and toys.

Image
Walkers. We have a walker, and 2 very close!! As always, Robin has been a step ahead, this time quite literally! He took his first 2 or 3 steps, then with a lot of practicing, wobbling and bottom splats, finally seemed to get it after about 10 days. The other 2 are hot on his heels and watching him with admiration. Honestly, this boy looks so incredibly proud of himself! He still very much prefers to crawl because he is FAST on all 4s, but he will be running before I can blink I'm sure! I know lots will become more challenging once they are on their feet, but so much will become easier in the same breath. Let the adventure continue, onwards and upwards! First proper word. It's Will! He says Daddy, really clearly! It's insanely cute when he sees James and pipes up.  Plastic, plastic and more plastic. James and I were really careful with what we bought before kids came along. We absolutely hate the single use plastic waste issue there is. Waste in general to be honest. We rec...

61. You can't be sad when you've got triplets, even if it feels like I'm treading water to stay afloat.

Image
It's true, there is just no way you can feel sad when you have triplets. It really is 3 times the fun, giggles and laughter. Even when they are asleep or I'm not with them, I just think about them and can't help but smile. Even if I haven't slept and I am absolutely hanging in rags, or ill, or feeling down, those little faces lift me right back up again. And then they cuddle, or laugh, or just do something, anything, and I'm smiling again. Magic!! First Birthday!!!! We have made it a whole year! A year with these wonderful little boys and their awesome big brother!! And what a magical year it has been!  I was very emotional for the build up to their birthday, and cried a lot on the morning they turned 1. I'm not really sure why. Pride? Disbelief? This last 18 months has just been the most unbelievable journey I could have ever imagined. Bracing ourselves for the worst at every scan we went to. Making it all the way to our planned c section date, my GOD I was rea...

60. Our favourite room and D&V.

Image
When these houses were built, some of them had a garage built with them, separate to the house. Our garage is at the side of our house, and the previous owners turned the space between the garage and house, into a utility room. It's a long, thin room, narrow at one end and a window at each end, and a door out to the garden. It is brilliant!  When we first moved in we had originally planned to knock our kitchen into the utility room, and create a little wash room off the garage. It didn't take long for us to realise that this room will actually be one of the most used and practical rooms in the house. We are both very outdoorsy people, and the garden here has turned us both into keen gardeners. Me, not so much since becoming pregnant with Jack, but I will be back out there in a few years.  As well as a sink, which is just the best, we have storage for coats, boots and even kitchen overspill. Mixers, baking stuff, bottle steriliser etc. We also have our washer, drier, a maiden a...
