22. 30 week scan

Yet another brilliant scan result. They all had something difficult to measure. Each time they measure the circumference of the head and belly, the length of the fima, they check to see a heartbeat, kidneys, and bladder, they measure the depth of fluid between the baby and the membrane, and they also show and measure the blood flow through the cord and the brain. Today's scan was at least 45 minutes and didn't manage a brain blood flow measurement in triplet B because he is now lying so low down.

The final measurement estimates are 3lb12, 3lb9, and 3lb13!!!! That's a LOT of baby weight I'm carrying!!

Huge help from my visiting sister.

My sister has been visiting from France and has been staying with us for a few days. She massively helped out with getting the babies bedroom ready and organising the garage. She has also taken over Jack duties, which Jack has absolutely loved because of all the attention.

The babies room is looking amazing now, James finished it on Thursday and we spent a couple of days trying to figure out what to put where. My brain was trying to figure out how to arrange the clothes, towels, bedding, sleeping bags, nappies, hats, mittens, blankets, coats, etc etc etc. Jen and I sat up there for the afternoon trying to figure out the most convenient place for everything and label all the drawers for the benefit of us and whoever we drag in and ask to go and fetch some more of something.

Jen told me that her crossfit class have planned a triplet day on their c section due date. They are going to do everything in 3s! How cool is that! Haha!

How I'm feeling.

As I'm sure you can imagine, carrying nearly 12lb of baby, plus all the fluid that goes with them, in a reasonably small bump, is getting pretty painful and exhausting now.

Driving is becoming extremely painful and 20 minutes in the car has ended in tears because of the pain in my ribs. I tried to describe it to James and the only thing I could think of, was it feeling like a claw hammer underneath my ribs. This pain is common at the end of the day if I've been up and about a lot. Very sore. To add to this pain is the little jabs and kicks I get all day long. Especially Triplet B and Triplet C have their legs pointing at my right hand side ribs, and they regularly give them a kick or a hook and WOW, they can be eye watering!!

Other than the rib pain, I've not been too bad considering. My pelvis seizes up when I've been sitting or lying down, and I get shooting pains sometimes.

I'm obviously feeling like I could burst because of the pressure in my belly, but I've felt like that for months now. Haha.

I'm also pretty tired and incredibly breathless. Just standing puffs me out now.

But I'm genuinely feeling well! My mental health has been great, which is lovely. I don't have the extreme brain fog I had with Jack, so I'm loving seeing people and able to contribute to conversations. And I'm also obviously excited to meet these three little lumps. I do keep getting waves of "holy shit, how the hell are we going to manage this?" But it's soon replaced with the excitement again.

All ready?

It's starting to feel like we are ready for their arrival now. James has done an incredible job with their bedroom. My sister, Jen, has organised all of the clothes, car seats, basinettes, towels and the rest of the gubbins we need. Furniture has been moved around to make it more convenient for all of us. A mini bus van has been purchased and I'm loving feeling like the king of the road! I've got a basket of nappies, clothes and all changing stuff ready for downstairs. My hospital bags for me and the babies are packed and ready to go.

So if I go into hospital tomorrow, there is very little James needs to do for the babies. They won't be home for weeks, but all he will need to do is assemble a cot and put the pram and seats in the car when it comes to home time for the babies. Oh, and stock up on food for me! Haha!
